In a significant milestone, Albato is proud to have achieved SOC 2 Type 1 certification, underscoring our commitment to robust security practices and regulatory compliance. This achievement reflects our dedication to ensuring the highest standards in protecting sensitive data and maintaining the trust of our users and partners.

SOC 2 Demystified

SOC 2, short for Service Organization Control 2, is a framework designed by the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), which establishes criteria for managing and securing data stored in the cloud based on five trust services criteria (TOC):

  • Security
  • Availability
  • Processing Integrity
  • Confidentiality
  • Privacy.

Understanding Type 1 and Type 2

SOC 2 certification comes in two types: Type 1 and Type 2.

Type 1

SOC 2 Type 1 focuses on the design and implementation of security controls at a specific point in time. It evaluates whether the organization's systems are suitably designed to meet the trust services criteria at the assessment date.

Type 2

SOC 2 Type 2 goes a step further by assessing the operational effectiveness of these controls over a designated period, usually a minimum of six months. It provides a more comprehensive understanding of how well an organization's security controls operate in practice.

The Significance of Certification

Obtaining SOC 2 is a rigorous process that involves thorough verification. Achieving this certification signifies that we have implemented robust measures, ensuring fulfillment of all established criteria.

The certification is not just a badge of honor; it instills confidence in Albato's users and partners, assuring them that their data is handled with the utmost care and security. It also aligns with industry best practices, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining compliance in an ever-evolving digital landscape.

Looking Ahead

While achieving SOC 2 Type 1 certification is a momentous achievement, we are not resting on our laurels. We are actively working towards obtaining SOC 2 Type 2 certification, reflecting our dedication to continuous improvement in security practices. This ongoing commitment ensures that Albato remains at the forefront of data protection and compliance standards.
