How to Create New Contacts in Salesforce Whenever a New Subscriber Is Added to a Mailchimp List

    IN THIS ARTICLE

If you use Mailchimp to grow your subscriber base, each new sign-up usually needs to land in your CRM too — so your sales or support team can follow up, segment the contact, or trigger the right workflow in Salesforce.

Copying subscribers over manually takes time and means your CRM is always a step behind. Albato handles this for you. The moment a new subscriber joins a Mailchimp list, a contact is created in Salesforce.

In this guide, we'll set up an automation that creates a Salesforce contact every time a new subscriber joins a Mailchimp list. Follow the steps below to set it up.

    Connecting the apps

The first step is to make sure both Mailchimp and Salesforce are properly connected to Albato. If you already use these apps in other automations or have created the connections before, you can skip this step.

If you haven't set this up yet, go to the Apps tab in Albato and click on Add a new connection.

Search for each app and follow the instructions that appear.

    Creating your automation

Now that both apps are connected to Albato, go to the Automations tab and click on Create new automation.

Then, click on the first step to add a trigger to your automation.

At this step, select the Mailchimp app and the following event: New subscriber in the list.

    Also, select the desired list.

In the next step, decide whether you want to pull in all existing data from that list (Data migration), or only create new contacts in Salesforce from now on (Real-time data only).

Click Save, and now repeat the initial process, but this time by clicking on the second step of the automation to add an action.

Select the Salesforce app and choose the action Create contact.

In the next step, you'll see all the available fields that can be filled in Salesforce and associated with your new contact.

You can either manually enter fixed values or click each field and map them to data from Mailchimp.

Once you've completed this step, click Save and then activate your automation by clicking Start in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

Now you can automatically create new contacts in Salesforce whenever a subscriber joins your Mailchimp list. If you have any questions, contact our support via chat.
