# Phone Number Formatting

IN THIS ARTICLE

The **Phone number formatting** tool applies a consistent format to phone numbers received from different apps. Use it before sending numbers to a CRM or another app that needs a specific format.

## Add the Tool

1.  Open the _Automation_ section and add the tool between steps.

## Configure the Tool

2.  Fill in the _Source phone number_ and the _Phone mask_ fields.

Select the source phone number from the sending app’s dropdown list. This example uses a phone number from Google Ads.

Select the required phone mask from the list:

-   If you do not enter a country code in _{{countryCode}}_, the phone number will be transferred without the code. Masks work for any countries.
-   If you enter country code, all _#_ characters will be replaced by phone number digits with the code according to the selected mask.

## Use the Formatted Number

3.  After configuring a tool, open the next step settings. In our example the next step is a CRM system.

4.  Find the _Phone_ field, and select _Albato Formatted number_ value.

The tool formats the phone numbers using the selected mask. This tool can be added to any automations where you need to format phone numbers.
