How to Set Up Slack Notifications for Mercado Pago Payments

    IN THIS ARTICLE

If you use Mercado Pago to process payments, your team needs to react quickly to what's happening — a failed charge, a new sale, a refund. Each of these may require action from sales, support, or finance.

Checking Mercado Pago manually for updates isn't practical when transactions happen around the clock.

Albato handles the notifications for you. In this guide, we'll set up an automation that sends a Slack notification every time a payment is completed or fails in Mercado Pago. Follow the steps below to set it up.

    Connecting the apps to Albato

The first step is to ensure both Mercado Pago and Slack are connected to Albato. If you've already done this, you can skip this step.

If not, go to Albato's Apps tab, click Add new connection, and search for Mercado Pago. Follow the instructions until you receive a connection successfully created confirmation.

Repeat the same process for Slack.

Once both apps are connected, it's time to create the automation.

    Creating the automation

Go to Albato's Automations tab and click Create new automation.

Click the first available rectangle to add the automation Trigger.

Select the Mercado Pago app and in the event field, choose Approved Payment.

Please, note: In this example, we'll create an automation to receive Slack notifications when a payment is approved. However, the logic and structure are the same for other payment events — just select the desired event.

    Available events include:

    • Approved payment
    • Pending payment
    • Rejected payment
    • Cancelled payment
    • Disputed payment
    • Refunded payment

If you want to track multiple events, create similar automations for each trigger.

After selecting the trigger, click Continue.

The next step is to add the Slack action. Click here.

Choose Slack as the app and decide whether you want to send the notification to a user in a private conversation, to a public channel, or to a private channel.

In this example, we'll choose to send a private message to a user.

After clicking Continue, click the User - ID field and define which user should receive this message whenever a payment is approved in Mercado Pago.

The list will display all users who have an account in your company's Slack workspace.

Next, define the message format. For a plain message, fill in the Unformatted text message field. To send formatted messages, use the Markdown-formatted text message field.

With Markdown, you can apply styles like bold, italic, lists, links, and headings using standard keyboard characters.

Choose only one of the two fields and enter the content you want to send to Slack. You can use static values (typed manually), dynamic values (related to your payment), or both.

After configuring the field, click Save.

Your automation is now configured and ready to use. Click Start to begin receiving notifications whenever a new payment is processed via Mercado Pago.

We recommend creating additional automations for the other triggers to stay on top of every payment status your customers encounter.
