How to Automatically Answer Mercado Libre Questions with ChatGPT

When potential customers ask questions about your Mercado Libre products, a fast and helpful response can remove doubts and help them make a purchase decision.
With Albato, you can automatically send each new question to ChatGPT, generate a response using your instructions, and publish the answer directly on Mercado Libre. This helps your team respond consistently outside working hours and handle more product questions without processing each one manually.
This guide explains how to create the automation.
Connect the required apps
Before creating the automation, connect Mercado Libre and ChatGPT (OpenAI) to Albato.
Go to the Apps tab, click Add a connection, find each app, and follow the connection instructions.

Once the connections are ready, Albato will display a confirmation message.
Note: You can apply the same workflow using another AI service available in Albato. The available actions and configuration fields may differ depending on the selected service.
Create the automation
Go to the Automations tab and click Create new automation.

Step 1. Add the Mercado Libre trigger
Click the first step to add a trigger.

Select Mercado Libre and choose the Question created event. Then select your Mercado Libre connection and click Continue.

This trigger starts the automation whenever a customer submits a new question about one of your products.
Step 2. Generate a response with ChatGPT
Click Add action.

Select ChatGPT (OpenAI) and choose Create chat completion.

Select the model that will generate the response. Choose a model that meets your requirements for response quality, speed, and cost.

In Role, enter user.

In Message text, provide clear instructions for generating the answer. Define the maximum length, tone, and information the model may use.
For example:
Generate a helpful response of no more than 250 characters to a customer asking about a Mercado Libre product.
Use a friendly, clear, and professional tone. Answer only using the product information provided. Do not invent unavailable details, make unsupported promises, or include email addresses or phone numbers.
The customer's question is:

Place the cursor after the prompt and map Question text from the Mercado Libre trigger.

Including relevant product information in the prompt gives the model more context and reduces the risk of an unsupported answer. If the trigger provides the product title, description, or attributes, add those values to the prompt as well.
Important: Adjust the prompt to your company's tone and customer service rules. Always include the customer's question and clearly state which details the model must not invent.
Click Save.
Step 3. Publish the answer on Mercado Libre
Click the plus icon below the ChatGPT step and select Action.

Select Mercado Libre and choose Answer the question.

Configure the fields:
- In Question ID, map Question id from the Mercado Libre trigger.
- In Response text, map Response content from the ChatGPT step.

Click Save.
Activate and test the automation
Review the completed workflow and click Start.

Submit a test question on one of your products and confirm that:
- the correct question starts the automation;
- ChatGPT receives the question and any relevant product details;
- the generated response follows your length and tone requirements;
- the answer is published under the correct Mercado Libre question.
AI-generated responses may contain inaccurate information when the prompt lacks sufficient context. Test the workflow carefully and provide explicit restrictions for prices, availability, delivery terms, warranties, and other details that should not be invented.
Once activated, the automation will process new Mercado Libre questions and publish contextual responses without requiring your team to handle each request manually.
